Well, I guess this is where it begins.

 
 

My mother once told me that “in Russia, we didn’t have bread but we had great books”.

From an early age, I knew the power of stories, community and imagination. I have used these simple things in my life and work to create magical results.

My goal is to work with people and organizations that understand these principles and live them with joy, passion and devotion to their craft.

MOVEMENT IS THE NEW MOVEMENT

In 2008, I founded one of the first CrossFit gyms in the city. I grew it from humble beginnings (my apartment) to a 3-storey community focused club in one of the hottest neighbourhoods in North America.

I built many great partnerships in that time including ones with lululemon, Nike, Reebok, Roots, TD Bank and the TDSB.

As the community grew, I understood the power of culture, partnership and platform to raise public awareness for new fitness trends, running, mindfulness, nutrition and social impact. As the public face of our community, I created our own content while speaking and hosting events, activations and panels.

COMMUNITY ACTION

Social Impact has always been at the core of my work. Over the last 10 years, I’ve started projects to help youth be healthier and more mindful through fitness, running, meditation and art.

This image was taken from 4RUN6, a project started to help kids in an underserved neighbourhood build community health through running & design. I put together several partners including TD Bank, The Toronto Board of Education and the Parkdale Roadrunners.

This image was taken during the launch of another project that helped street and at-risk youth through fitness. We partnered with Richard Branson and Virgin Unite.

500 SHIRTS = 1 SCHOOL

To this day, my proudest achievement is This Shirt. I designed a shirt and project that funded the construction of 20 schools in Kenya.

The project was started in one night of feverish work. Through determination and using my network, I was able to partner with Free The Children and Roots Canada to elevate the idea to a global stage.

After the success of This Shirt Built A School In Africa, other shirts were released to help with disaster aid in Japan and infrastructure building in Peru.

TELLING STORIES

I’ve written and hosted 20 viral pieces for VICE reaching millions and covering topics ranging from Meditation, Martial Arts, Health, Photography and Motorcycle Gangs.

 

I'm especially proud to have hosted the first ever Tonic Talk at Vice HQ in Brooklyn with one of my heros, Simon Sinek.

Simon had agreed to do my podcast earlier that year, and through my relationships at Vice and lululemon I was able to elevate this opportunity to a larger platform and a Facebook Live audience of around 100k for the stream.

A THOUSAND WORDS.

As a photographer, I understand how visual language can communicate quickly and emotionally. Understanding design and composition is essential in building stories from the heart out.

TRUE NATURE

In 2017, I became a Partner and Managing Director of Woodfield, a 500 acre retreat centre in Muskoka, Ontario. In the past 2 years, we’ve hosted some great groups including lululemon for the Huddle Retreat.

I oversaw day to day operations, financial management and was vital in building the brand and communications strategy.

In 2019, we decided to turn Woodfield into a charitable foundation to help people in need. I took a board position and continue to advise on the creative and marketing.

PUBLIC RELATIONS(HIPS)

The best PR is getting out there - meeting people at their heart, head, hands and feet.

This image is taken from a meditation I led for 500 runners for lululemon’s Global Run Day event in Toronto. I enjoy getting out there and building relationships and creating networks that help connect people around shared vision. I’ve always used mindfulness and movement to inspire and engage people, communities, brands and partners. Every relationship I’ve build has been from the ground up.

SOUND OF SILENCE

 

As a lululemon Ambassador and Managing Director of Woodfield, I had a unique opportunity to inspire thousands of runners at the 2018 Waterfront 10k. We created a cheer station of meditators who spent an hour sending positive vibes to the runners. This became one of the most talked about aspects of the 10k.
